If you are lucky, you could see her waving. In the afternoon, visit the Pashupatinath, one of the most holy Shiva temples for Hindus. Xigatse has one of the most impressive castles, a model for the Potala. The actual structure is a reconstruction, since the Tibetan under Chinese occupation dismantled the 17th Century fortress. Gyantse used to be the third city in Tibet. With 8000 inhabitants, this city at almost 4000 meters high hosts the Kumbum, the biggest chorten in Tibet, inside the Palcho Monastery. Sera and Drepung where monasteries and important centres of knowledge for the Tibetan culture and still keep its prestige, although the recent changes in Tibet also brought the Western universities to the city.
